The History of Glasgow RC Club

Glasgow RC has a proud history as one of Scotland’s leading radio control car racing clubs. Founded by a small group of passionate racers, including long-standing members Eric Brawley and Stephen McArthur — the club has grown into a vibrant community for RC enthusiasts of all ages and abilities.
Humble Beginnings
In the early 1980s, Eric, Stephen, and a few like-minded hobbyists started meeting informally in local halls and car parks, laying out tracks with whatever materials they could find. Fuelled by a shared love of RC racing, they laid the groundwork for something bigger.
“We just wanted somewhere to race with mates. It started small, but the club became something really special.”
— Eric Brawley, Club Founder“It’s still about having fun, learning together, and creating great memories. That’s what keeps people coming back.”
— Stephen McArthur, Club Founder
As more people joined, the club evolved. Events became more organised, facilities improved, and Glasgow RC began to establish a reputation for being both welcoming and well-run.
A Club That Keeps Growing
Over the years, we’ve:
- Built one of the most active and supportive RC communities in Scotland with a thriving social scene
- Secured a permanent dedicated outdoor venue for all-weather racing
- Installed state-of-the-art lap timing systems
- Supported the growth of junior racing, including national champions
- Encouraged a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all ages and abilities

Today and Tomorrow
Now running regular race meets for 1/10 scale electric off-road buggies and trucks, Glasgow RC continues to thrive. We’re proud to welcome beginners, seasoned racers, and everyone in between.
The spirit that Eric, Stephen, and the other founders sparked is still alive in every heat we run, every new face we meet, and every laugh shared at the track.
